Laying Instruction

Laying Instructions

Concrete precast products offer many advantages over conventional contruction materials and methods, provided they are used in accordance with the instructions specified by the manufacturer and architects.

Get It Right
  1. For laying of paver blocks, selection of proper contractor is very important.
  2. For long lasting life of paver blocks, preparation of sub base is aprerequisite. All vegetation and black cotton / top soil must be removed and sub base must be very well compacted with roller. For drainage, slopes should be provided in sub base only (as per architect’s specifications).

For finish floor level of paver blocks, sub base should be adjusted as follows:

  • For 60 mm blocks, sub base should be down by 100 mm.
  • For 80 mm blocks, sub base should be down by 120 mm.
  • For 100 mm blocks, sub base should be down by 140 mm.
    1. Spread grit / crushed sand/natural sand from minimum 20 mm to maximum 50 mm above sub base with proper level and leveling instrument for readying your supporting base for laying paver blocks.
    2. Lay pavers as per design given by the architect. Full attention should be given to level and lines in all directions. Pavers can be cut with brick/ marble cutting hand machine for perfect fitting and clear edges. After laying pavers, fill the joints with fine plaster sand and vibrate with plate vibrator/light roller without vibrator and remove excess sand afterwards
      • Restrain the periphery of laid pavers to prevent washing-out of the bedding sand. Periphery pavers can be restrained by kerb stones or reinforced concrete.
      • At edges, fill joints either by fine sand or grouted with 1:3 cement/ sand slurry. Ensure that excess slurry is washed and cleaned properly. Water cure joints for few days before using the pathway/driveway.
      • To minimize damage to pavers, carry pavers by hand to the laying area. Pavers should never be thrown at the site while laying. It is expected and accepted that 2% of pavers will have small chips. Such uneven pavers can be used for laying at the ends where cutting of paver is required.
      • Finishing works like painting, plumbing, gate fixing or any other cementing of the site must be completed in all respects before laying pavers to retain the looks of the pavers.
